Sunny

Before

After

Sunny has a very sad story to tell. Sunny was found as a "Stray" but judging by her collar in her pictures we believe otherwise. Sunny waited for three days for her owner to come and get her, only to never show. After three days Sunny was evaluated and failed her evaluation because she did not like her toes being pinched. She was placed on the euthanasia list to be destroyed the next day. A rescue pulled Sunny off the list but did not claim her that day. That night Sunny's kennel mate viciously attacked Sunny leaving deep puncture wounds on her neck and face. Sunny would once again end up on the Euthanasia list, this time for medical reasons. That is when Phoenix Paws & Claws stepped in and pulled Sunny off the euthanasia list, had her spayed and picked her up from Maricopa County. Sunny went straight to a vet where we discovered the damage that had been done. Sunny had several very deep puncture marks in her throat and face, she also lost her dew claws trying to escape her attacker, both sides of her gums had detatched from the jaw leaving it painful for Sunny to eat, and she pulled a ligament in her back leg during the entire ordeal. Poor Sunny had been through so much already we knew that we had to do our best to help and get Sunny back on her paws again! Sunny is now resting comfortably in medical foster care. Her wounds have to be drained manually, and cleaned often. She is receiving pain medication to help with her torn ligament and to keep her all around comfortable. She is also on antibiotics to help prevent any further infection.

Sunny's Story:

Since being in foster care Sunny has made a great improvement! She is friendly with her foster siblings which include a Great Pyrenees, a Boxer, a Pitbull, and a Great Dane! She was a little nervous at first with other dogs but that was to be expected due to what poor Sunny has gone through, however she has become one with the pack. She is sweet and playful! You wouldn't believe something so horrible has ever happened to such a friendly puppy! She is still on the mend, but is resting comfortably and making a great recovery! She willl make someone an awesome forever addition to their family.
